Woven Paysley Throw Shawl, 1850-1890

A very large silk cashmere paisley throw shawl, circa 1860s, made with the rafugars method of construction, hand loomed pieces that are painstakingly hand-sewn together to form the paisley motif.

The decoration consisting of a radiating central black star, two elongated palmettes above and below, predominately in warm shades of red with a black center.

Large silk cashmere black center with red, turquoise white mustard design meandering into borders, elongated, entwined borders, in red with black, green, white and turquoise, deep fringed gates at two long ends, measures: 63" x 132", excellent.
