Vizagapatam Anglo-Indian Rectangular Box Inlaid with Bone and Sandalwood
Fabulous Anglo-Indian decorative box inlaid with bone and sandalwood. Made in Vizagapatam, situated on the south east coast of India, near Madras.
Sandalwood, bone horn inlaid surround the dome top and base.
These exotic box pieces were crafted with ivory veneer, retailed in Madras and Calcutta by the English and Dutch East India Companies.
Great decorative horn inlaid pen box or jewelry box.
Inside dimensions: 12" W x 3" H x 3.75" D.
No key, see last picture a tiny piece of bone is missing on the corner.
