About the Piece
Vintage Anglo-Indian Engraved Brass Candlestick Table Lamp, circa 1950
An elegant and unusually tall vintage Anglo-Indian solid brass table lamp, handcrafted in India circa 1950. Originally designed as a decorative candlestick, this substantial mid-century piece has been converted into an electric table lamp, preserving its graceful silhouette and richly ornamented brass body.
The sculptural design features a flared candleholder, an elongated, finely shaped central column, and a broad circular pedestal base. Intricate hand-engraved floral and scrolling foliate motifs embellish the entire surface, from the upper cup and tapered shaft to the stepped base. The detailed metalwork reflects traditional Indian craftsmanship with Mughal-inspired decorative influences.
The brass has been polished to a warm golden finish and treated with a protective coating to help resist tarnishing and minimize maintenance.
Standing an impressive 40 inches tall to the top of the finial, this statement lamp brings architectural presence and refined character to a living room, entryway, library, or designer interior. Its decorative craftsmanship complements traditional, Hollywood Regency, Indian, Moorish Revival, and eclectic contemporary interiors.
The original brass candlestick measures 25 inches high, with a 9-inch-diameter circular base. Overall lamp height, including the electrical fittings and finial, is 40 inches.
Made in India, circa 1950. Mid-20th century. Handcrafted solid brass with engraved and polished detailing. Plug-in electric lamp, 110–150V. Presented in very good vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. Protective lacquer finish on the brass. Lampshade not included.
