About the Piece
A striking custom-made circular coffee table combining substantial polished brass with a beautifully figured green marble top, circa 2010. The design draws from Art Deco and Modernist geometry, giving the table a sculptural architectural presence while remaining exceptionally clean and sophisticated.
The large round top features an inset slab of richly colored dark green marble, animated by natural pale veining and tonal variations. The stone is framed by a broad, polished brass surround that emphasizes the strong circular geometry and creates an elegant contrast between the cool, organic character of the marble and the warm golden metal.
Particularly distinctive are the table's six decorative brass legs. Each is conceived as a geometric composition of cylindrical supports, rounded bowl-like elements and tapered pointed feet. Their placement around the circumference gives the table an almost jewel-like quality when viewed from different angles and expands its overall footprint slightly beyond the diameter of the tabletop.
The low 16-inch height and generous 46-inch diameter top give the piece excellent proportions for a substantial living room seating arrangement. It would work particularly well as the focal point of a sophisticated contemporary, Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, French Modernist or eclectic designer interior.
Rather than being a mass-produced contemporary table, this piece was custom made circa 2010, and its unusual six-leg construction, substantial brass perimeter and dramatic green stone top give it the character of a bespoke decorative furnishing.
The combination of green marble and polished brass is particularly effective: luxurious without being overly ornamental and sufficiently architectural to complement both antique and contemporary furnishings.
Dimensions: The circular tabletop measures 46 inches in diameter. The widest overall diameter, measured across the projecting decorative legs, is approximately 49 inches. Overall height is 16 inches.
Condition: Good condition with surface wear and variations to the brass finish consistent with use. Natural variations and veining are inherent to the marble.
