Oversized 1950s Vintage Murano Tortoise Hand Blown Art Glass Giant Pear, 24.5 inches Tall.
This very impressive, hand blown Italian Murano art glass in the shape of a giant pear.
It is handcrafted in a so called tortoise shell pattern glass, a speckled, natural pattern of irregular sized brown spots.
Vintage Mid-Century Modern very large decorative piece of hand blown faux tortoise shell style blown Italian art glass sculpture.
The tortoise pattern has beautiful deep topaz, brown, gold murine, caramel and amber coloring.
This is an absolutely gorgeous hand blown amber to brown tortoise shell art glass.
A unique and rare pattern sets this art glass apart from other Murano pieces. And is often referred to as a tortoise pattern or leopard pattern. Tall wide strokes of deep brown and blacks decorate the vessel throughout and are on an orange or yellow-tan background. A classic piece that will bring warmth to any space.
Very much in the style of Hollywood Regency, this piece of vintage art glass dates from the 1950, 60s.
The specific Italian Murano maker of this art glass is unknown (there are several hundred glassmakers on the Venetian island of Murano) however we know that the maker in question made this kind of tortoise art glass in several different shapes and sizes for luxury French brand label like Lancel and Dior.
Timeless and fashionable and will add style to your living space. Great object of art glass for display and really stuns when natural sunlight shines through it. For the maximalist, or the Mid-Century Modern lover, this vessel is great for placing on top of a credenza or dining table or even a patio table while entertaining.
It is in good vintage condition. It has no chips, no cracks or repairs, may have some scratches due to age.
Heavy art glass, the wooden circular base is probably a later addition to the glass sculpture.
