This is an old Dayak baby child carrier, from Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Infants are carried on the Dayak mother's back in this beaded basket.
The seat is made of wood, the fabric canvas body is decorated with protective motifs in glass beads to ward off evil and on the sides there are wooden sculpture of deities.
A very rare and unusual piece of the Dayak Kayan Tribal Art craftsmanship from Borneo Kalimantan Indonesia. circa 1940s-1950s.
